Here’s a simple and delicious recipe for a Chocolate Cake:
Moist Chocolate Cake Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 and 3/4 cups (220g) all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup (65g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 cups (400g) granulated sugar
- 1 and 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 and 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup (240ml) whole milk
- 1/2 cup (120ml) vegetable oil
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup (240ml) boiling water
- 1/2 cup (120ml) hot coffee (optional, enhances chocolate flavor)
For Chocolate Ganache:
- 1 cup (240ml) heavy cream
- 200g dark chocolate (chopped)
- 1 tbsp unsalted butter
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- Mix the dry ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add wet ingredients: Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Beat with a mixer on medium speed for about 2 minutes.
- Add boiling water and coffee: Stir in the boiling water (and coffee if using). The batter will be thin, but that’s okay! It helps keep the cake moist.
- Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cool: Remove the cakes from the oven and allow them to cool in the pans for 10 minutes. Then, remove them from the pans and let them cool completely on a wire rack.
For the Chocolate Ganache:
- Heat the cream: In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it just starts to simmer (don’t let it boil).
- Pour over chocolate: Pour the hot cream over the chopped dark chocolate in a bowl and let it sit for a minute to melt the chocolate.
- Stir in butter: Stir until smooth and glossy, then add in the butter. Let it cool slightly to thicken before pouring over the cake.
Assembling the Cake:
- Place one cooled cake layer on a serving plate. Spread a thick layer of ganache over the top.
- Place the second cake layer on top and pour the remaining ganache over the entire cake, letting it drip down the sides.
- Decorate with chocolate curls or fresh berries, if desired.
Let the ganache set for a few minutes before slicing. Enjoy your rich and moist chocolate cake!
